Grants: Instructions
The Colorado Center for Drug Discovery (C2D2), a program of CSU Ventures Inc. (CSUV) invites researchers to submit small molecule drug discovery-related proposals to be considered for C2D2 support in 2012. In addition to requesting monetary support, applicants can request additional research assistance which will be provided through the C2D2 organization. In particular, researchers engaged in preclinical drug discovery projects that could benefit from the following types of assistance are encouraged to apply:
- Funding. Up to $50,000 (3 to 12 month) for PI/Co-PI lab-based biological research activities on novel, validated targets of human disease.
- Synthesis and/or medicinal chemistry support to advance ongoing drug discovery efforts. Examples of C2D2’s medicinal chemistry support that can be requested include preparation of literature compounds, chemical structure confirmation of screening hits, optimization of lead compounds through analog design and synthesis, lead compound scale up for pharmacology studies, as well as hit expansion through molecular modeling techniques.
- In vitro metabolism or in vivo pharmacokinetic (PK)/pharmacological support. Examples of support include metabolism studies, permeability, or rodent PK studies.
Projects not considered at this time:
- Target identification or validation (e.g. knock-in/knock out studies, etc.).
- High-throughput screening (HTS) projects.
- Technology that has been previously licensed.
- Vaccine, biological or siRNA-related programs (peptides, proteins, monoclonal antibodies).
- Projects already supported by State of Colorado BDEGP funding.
Additional information as well as the application form can be found in the 2012 application form.
Key 2012 dates RFP opens December 19, 2011. Deadline for application submissions: January 30, 2012. Evaluation begins: February, 2012. Grant Awards begin: April 1, 2012.
